OUP India publishes a growing range of bilingual dictionaries in different Indian languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Gujarati, Marathi, Oriya, Kannada, Telugu, etc. The basic target group of these comprehensive and reliable dictionaries is the learners of English but the readership extends to students in schools and colleges, teachers, translators and also general readers. In 2008 OUP India published the well-acclaimed English-English-Hindi Dictionary, the first of its kind by OUP India. The English-English-Tamil Dictionary and the English-English-Marathi Dictionary were published subsequently. All these dictionaries are characterized by the Oxford hallmark of authoritative linguistic information, detailed attention to grammar and usage and most uniquely Indian words that have been accepted into the English language. Keeping the tone with the earlier range of dictionaries, a new English-English-Bengali Dictionary is slated for release in September 2012.
