I.G. Patelwas both Chief Economic Adviser and Secretary, Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India; Director of the London School of Economics and Political Science and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad; Governor of the Reserve Bank of India; and the Under Secretary-General of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He was Executive Director in International Monetary Fund, and also Director on the Board of State Bank of India.
