Oxford University Press is a department of the University of Oxford and has played a key role in the University's work since its first published work in 1586. It is the largest and most successful university press in the world with offices in fifty countries and publishes more than 6,000 new resources a year across the academic and educational spectrum.

OUP India has long been an important publishing center for the Press. From its first locally published book in 1912, it has expanded its output to include a wide range of educational and academic resources - from scholarly works and higher education textbooks to school courses, bilingual dictionaries, and digital resources for teaching-learning.

OUP India's sales network is today, perhaps, the widest of any Indian publisher. Its editorial strengths have ensured that its publications are closely interwoven with local needs, while reaching a global audience. OUP India has four regional sales offices at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata with independent warehouses and showrooms in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Pune, Lucknow, Patna, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Ernakulam, Chandigarh and Jaipur. These regional offices and showrooms cater to the growing needs of academics, school, college and university students, professional and research institutions, as also general readers. To meet its growing infrastructure needs, OUP India has recently established a modern all-India Central Warehouse at Greater Noida, near Delhi, which is spread over 25,000 sq. ft.
